Policemen who killed unarmed suspects in Lagos, dismissed and remanded in prison


The four policemen who were involved in extrajudicial killing of two unarmed suspects in Lagos State, have been dismissed from the Police Force and remanded in prison custody.

The Policemen shot and killed the two unarmed suspects at point bank range. 

They have now been dismissed, charged to court and remanded in prison custody after they were subjected to internal disciplinary proceedings at the Provost Department.

After they were tried on three count charges bothering on Discreditable conduct; Unlawful and unnecessary exercise of authority; and Damage to Article, they were found guilty.

They were therefore awarded the punishment of dismissal from service and prosecution. They have now been handed over to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba for prosecution in conventional Court.

DSP Bala Elkana, the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State disclosed that,

“The four suspects, Ex-Inspector Fabiyi Omomayara, Ex-Sergeant Olaniyi Solomon, Ex-Sergeant Solomon Sunday and Ex-Corporal Aliyu Mukaila were on 22/08/2019 arraigned in Magistrate Court 5 Ebute Meta for conspiracy and murder and were remanded in Ikoyi prison.The case is adjourned to 23/09/2019 for DPP Advise. This will serve as deterrent to others. ”
