Residents of Ureje, in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, have cried out to the federal government over the delayed reconstruction of the Ureje Bridge four months after it collapsed.

The Ureje bridge collapsed in 2019 due to persistent flooding caused by torrential rainfalls but residents are displeased over the alleged abandonment of the project after several assurances given by the Minister of Works, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola.

The residents were assured by Raji Fashola that the reconstruction will be done before the beginning of the rainy season, although palliative measures were put up to aid motorists pending reconstruction.

The bridge located along Ado-Ijan-Ikare road connects the capital city with Afe Babalola University and the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti.
